The exceptional Nissan Maxima 250 ST-L has been named Best Large Car in the Drive Car of the Year Awards for 2009. Nine expert judges from Drive.com.au, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age spent six days on a closed track and public roads arduously assessing vehicles for everything from environmental features and safety to driving dynamics and performance.
The award is an outstanding recognition of the Maxima 250 ST-L's superior performance, innovative design and unparalleled levels of comfort and luxury for a car of its class. Although being the most affordable vehicle in the Large Car category, the Nissan Maxima astounded judges with its comfort and high levels of specification.
The judges noted: "Specifically, it is value - both features and pricing - that the Maxima (250 ST-L) has on its side and that had judges questioning whether this leather-clad sedan was really the base model or whether Nissan had accidentally delivered something more exotic to the DCOTY test HQ. From electric seats to dual zone air-conditioning and even xenon headlights, it's an extensive list of equipment."
The Nissan Maxima range has an impressive list of standard features such as leather trim interior, push button engine start and dual zone automatic climate control air-conditioning. The Drive judges also mentioned that the Maxima "doesn't skimp on safety." For a start, there are six airbags to help cushion the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. It is also equipped with safety aids including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to help control the vehicle in emergency situations.
